D'oro
The name D'oro comes from the Italian term meaning 'Golden' or 'Of Gold.' My goal with this project was to design an app that makes it simple to invest in physical gold. All gold purchased is securely stored in a Vault in Switzerland, this allows you to buy and digitally track your physical gold.
This project was inspired by apps like Duolingo & Robinhood that have democratized access to traditionally complex areas through UX, UI & strong brand identities. I felt the existing avenues of purchasing gold are inaccessible to younger generations and confusing to many.
Home, buy, and track gold on one page.
The goal for home was to have everything you need to understand the standing of your investments, the broad gold market, and control over the gold you own or want to purchase.
D'oro uniquely allows users to buy and sell a single asset, gold. I challenged myself to combine features that are typically spread across several pages—tracking investments, recurring investments, and tracking the broad market—into a single page.
Buy, sell, and set up reoccurring investments.
The goal for this page was to make it easy to buy more gold or sell your gold with the added ability to set up recurring sell or buy orders all on one page. I used Coinbase, and Robinhood as design inspiration for this page to make it easy for users to adapt and understand.
Reflection
I enjoyed creating typeframes after the wireframe stage, these are wireframes with high fidelity type and hierarchy, which allowed me to have a more accurate vision heading into high-definition design.
For future projects, I will be spending more time on the identity of the brand before jumping into branding, wireframes, and especially high-definition design. This would have given me a clearer vision of communicating the desired brand tone of friendly, trustworthy, and easy.
In future projects, I want to challenge myself to create illustrations that convey the brand identity.
